Trio line-up to put an end to cancer
Three of our principal murder mystery actors are bringing the curtain down on cancer, whilst celebrating the career of one of Britain’s finest comedians, Victoria Wood.
Rosa Wright, Ash Preston and Pete Gibson are appearing in “North West Woods” a fundraiser for Cancer Research organised by BAPS Theatre and taking place in and around what would have been Victoria’s 65th birthday (King’s Arms Theatre, Salford, 20 May, 7 30pm).
And while our threesome may be familiar to audiences as Laugh and Let Die characters such as Sissy Jupe, the Artful Dodger, Leonardo di Haribo, Titan Belt and Siegfried Seven, we suspect some of you may never have seen them in the guises they will be in for this show.
Rosa will be performing some of her sparkling spoken word poetry. She said: “I'm a poet, performer and all-round professional weirdo who might be just what you need. I've appeared on stage, in short films and immersive events across the North West as well as being in a band and producing a variety written work. If you're looking for someone who can do a bit of everything and excels at creating comedic characters, you've found them!”
Aside from his comic acting, Ash doubles-up as one of the North West’s brightest new comedians. Constantly gigging, he has a unique brand of observational and sometimes off-the-wall humour that should have audiences laughing and donating to Cancer Research.
Pete’s appearance at “North West Woods” should be a poignant one, as he comes from Prestwich – Victoria’s place of birth. He will be performing a monologue about an obsessional toilet cleaner, who prides himself on being a three-time winner of the national golden urinal award, in a piece called, “Someone’s got to do it.”
